Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I knew I can’t make the world a better place by changing the generations that came before me or the one I’m in. If we are to truly make change we must teach the next generation to believe that tomorrow can be better than today. It is my hope that I can be a positive force and enable my students to take charge of their future with the skills needed to make the world a better place.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s hard to point to one singular moment in the teaching experience. Rather, my most memorable overall moments are when my students come back to visit after they’ve graduated and share their success stories with me. Knowing that I had even a small part in their journey makes me incredibly proud.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d probably spend some of it on my band program and help purchase instruments like I have before. I’d also travel! I’d love to see the Grand Canyon, tour Italy Greece, and explore Ireland.
