I love being a teacher because every day I get to show up for students who are still figuring out who they are and who they want to become.

Learn MoreMy background in humanitarian work taught me that real change starts with investing in people. I became a teacher to help students who face challenges beyond the classroom and to create a space where they feel supported, capable, and valued. Teaching gives me the chance to empower young people and help them believe in their future.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceSome of my most memorable moments are with students who feel invisible or believe school isn’t for them. Many struggle with behavior, attendance, or confidence. By showing them I care about them as people not just numbers they begin to realize their presence matters. Watching students start to believe in themselves and re-engage in learning reminds me why teaching matters. Seeing that shift in confidence and engagement is a powerful reminder of the impact teachers can have.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest majority of the money into helping create or support an after-school program focused on service and community engagement. By partnering with existing organizations or establishing a new program, students would have a safe place after school to volunteer, advocate, and grow into community leaders.
