I teach because learning is joyful chaos—experimenting, failing, retrying—and watching kids realize how capable they are.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because I believe curiosity changes lives. I wanted to create a space where kids feel safe to question, experiment, fail, try again, and discover they’re capable of more than they imagined. Teaching lets me turn learning into something hands-on, meaningful, and empowering, especially in STEAM, where creativity and problem-solving collide.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceYears after leaving my class, a former student reached out to tell me my passion for science inspired him to pursue biomedical engineering. The fact that he thought to come back and share that meant everything. It was a powerful reminder that the impact of teaching isn’t always immediate—but it lasts.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in mobile engineering workstations, student-safe tools, and durable maker systems that increase independence in STEAM. Strong, lasting infrastructure allows students to design, build, and problem-solve with real ownership. Because we already create using repurposed materials and a conservation mindset, these investments would strengthen that foundation and supporting not just today’s students, but investing in the health of our community.
