I teach to spark wonder, build thinkers, and change trajectories—because when students understand the why, everything in their life shifts.

I became a teacher because the right teacher can change the entire trajectory of a student’s life. Science gives students the power to understand themselves, their bodies, and the world around them. When students realize they are capable of mastering something they once thought was impossible, their confidence grows far beyond the classroom. Being part of that moment - when curiosity turns into belief in themselves, is why I teach.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable moments was teaching the cell cycle using simple hand motions to represent each stage. As we moved through the process together, I could see confusion turn into recognition across the room. Suddenly students were calling out the stages and predicting what came next. That moment when it visibly “clicked” showed me how powerful it is when students can physically connect to an abstract concept.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would invest in the two places where my impact matters most: my family and my classroom. I would create greater stability for my family while expanding hands-on science experiences for my students—so they don’t just learn life sciences, they experience it. When teachers are supported at home, they show up stronger for students. This would multiply the impact of one investment into hundreds of lives.
