Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every kid deserves a champion—someone who sees them, believes in them, and reminds them they are capable and loved. I don’t just teach Biology or lead PALS; I build leaders and safe spaces where students can grow into who they’re meant to be, with confidence, purpose, and heart.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was watching a student who had been labeled the “problem kid” begin to believe he was more than that. He came from a tough background and carried more than most adults do, but through consistency, conversations, and high expectations, he started showing up differently. Seeing him succeed in my class—and choose better for himself despite the hardship—reminded me that connection changes everything.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I’d invest it where my heart is—my students and my growth. I’d pour a portion back into PALS mentorship, student travel, and hands-on Biology labs so more kids have access to opportunities beyond their zip code. And I’d use part of it to pay down my master’s degree loans—so I can keep leading, serving, and showing up fully for them.
