I became a teacher to be able to inspire my students by sharing how hard it was for me to accomplish my goals while being a single Mom of 2 kids and still making it happen. So if I can do it, they definitely can do it too. I wanted my students to want to go out into the world and be amazing.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience was when a student came to me wanting to drop out of school after being told to stop wasting other teacher's time because he would never be anything in life. I made him remember what he wanted to be as a little kid, then I made him repeat it again & again until he believed it. He did become that lawyer.
What would you do with the $25,000?First I would set up 5 $1000 scholarships for 5 students that had to work through high school to help their parents pay bills. I would like for them to buy themselves a laptop & possibly use that laptop for classes even if it had to be online. Then I would separate $5000 for the next school year to award 5 more seniors a $1000 scholarship each. The rest I would use because I would love to visit Italy, a place my father fought in during WWII.
