I became a teacher because I believe education can change lives. Great teachers inspired me when I was young, and their passion for learning shaped who I am today. Teaching mathematics allows me to share that inspiration, help students build confidence, and show them the power and opportunities for growth this subject can bring despite the challenges to overcome.

One of my most memorable moments happened recently when a student whom I taught Precalculus and AP Calculus ran up to me and told me that he will major in math and will make me proud. Over the years, many of my students have gone on to major in mathematics at universities such as Harvard, MIT and Brown. Seeing students discover confidence and a lifelong passion for math is the most rewarding and beautiful thing in my life.

If awarded the $25,000, I would use it to strengthen our school’s math team and math club. After recently hosting our state math convention at our school and leading our math team compete in many national and local competitions over the years, I saw how powerful these opportunities are for students. My students often participate with limited resources. This funding would help expand competitions, support student participation, and inspire more students to explore and love mathematics.
