Tell us why you became a teacher

Schools are becoming less and less personal. I wanted the opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives. Reigniting the fun that we used to have in school when I was a child. Witnessing the moments when things start to click for them makes it an adventure every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Recently it’s been watching some of my students who have been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum learn that it’s ok to be different and embrace it. Another moment recently was watching a student who’s been struggling with her writing, feel proud of a piece she wrote. I was beaming just seeing her confidence grow.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would probably purchase some new monitors for my classroom and my best teacher friend’s classroom. Some new materials and probably take my youngest daughter to Disneyland. It’s a bit difficult on a teacher budget.
