Tell us why you became a teacher

I chose this path to inspire, uplift, and open doors—helping students believe in themselves and their ability to achieve more. Over 20 years later, I’m still that same heart-led educator, just louder with purpose. As a true Nest Shaker, I challenge, encourage, and pour into every child I meet. I don’t just teach lesson. I strive to build confidence, spark growth, and create spaces where students feel seen, valued, and capable of shining beyond the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a group of 3rd graders. We set goals, worked hard, and grew beyond expectations through hands-on learning, real-world connections, songs, and speaking daily affirmations. They truly took ownership of their learning. When results came back, some students were in tears, worried they hadn’t done enough for me. That moment touched my heart deeply. I poured into them, they recieved it & poured right back into me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would create an “Extraordinary Day of Learning”, an immersive experience where fun meets purpose. Students would engage in hands-on, real-world activities with dynamic presenters and interactive stations that bring learning to life. Teachers would gain fresh strategies while students build confidence and joy. Refreshments and treats would add an extra touch of excitement, creating smiles and lasting memories for all.
