Tell us why you became a teacher

As a parent of four children, I've heard countless stories about the positive and negative experiences they've had with teachers. I've seen firsthand how deeply educators shape not only academic growth, but confidence, character, and peer relationships. Those conversations inspired me. I became a teacher because I care deeply about the future our children have and the lasting impact a caring, dedicated adult can make in their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most unforgettable moments happened midyear when a parent reached out to me. She shared that at the beginning of the year, her daughter had begged to be homeschooled because she felt disconnected and unhappy at school. They convinced her to give it one more chance. By midyear, everything had changed. She was excited to come to class, thriving through hands-on learning and meaningful peer connections. Knowing I helped restore her joy in learning is something I will always carry with me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, I would begin by giving my classroom and science lab a much-needed makeover—updating materials, expanding hands-on learning tools, and creating an inspiring space where curiosity thrives. I would also invest in advancing my own education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, so I can continue growing as an educator and expand my impact beyond my classroom.
