Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe school should be a place where every student feels seen, valued, and capable of growth. As a special educator, I’m driven by the challenge of finding creative ways to help students access learning and build independence.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was working with a student in a life skills classroom who struggled with communication and transitions. He often shut down when overwhelmed. Through consistent routines, visual supports, and patient coaching, we practiced moving between activities independently. The first time he successfully navigated to the next activity on his own was huge.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use it to create greater stability for my family. I would set up college funds for my two children to help give them a strong start toward their future goals. I would also use a portion to pay down existing debt, which would reduce financial stress and allow me to focus more fully on both my family and my students.
