Tell us why you became a teacher

I have been around teachers my whole life. Both parents were teachers. My favorite people feeling up were all teachers. I had a lot of influences but when I started working with kids in high school, I saw the benefit it helping amd encouraging young learners.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As a music teacher I have so many students who have a fear of “performance” or just don’t have the confidence that they can. My favorite so far is a student who tried out for a part but could not get herself to go through with it out of fear. I told her she was an amazing singer and when she decided she was ready she would do great things. Through that encouragement, she started private lessons and is a solo singer on stage. To see the seed bloom into a beautiful flower we know is there.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am honestly not sure of the rules of this. However it would most likely go straight back into my classroom to purchase things I need for my classroom. If I am set I would share it with my coworkers who need some thing for their classrooms as well
