Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a teacher. I have fond memories playing school with my sister in our bedroom. The beds were our desks & we would kneel down instead of using chairs. I would write ‘BUTIFUL’ on all her work! I kept all my school materials and used them to teach. The summers I spent in Puerto Rico, my cousins & I would play school. I would teach them how to speak & write English and they taught me Spanish. We used a car port as a class and taught all neighborhood kids!

My most memorable teaching experiences are centered around bringing literacy opportunities to my students. My passion is literacy & as a teacher, I wrote about my district’s needs & was chosen to be a recipient of a Free Little Library. This Little Library inspired all schools in the district to host a Little Library providing access to books for all! Through my outreach, Barnes and Noble also made my school a recipient of a Holiday Donation Project where customers donated books to our school.

My children have inspired me to challenge myself to be the best version of myself. I am still in college today & my kids are 31, 26, & 16. They inspire me to educate myself to be a better mom and teacher. They are my Greatest Loves of All. I would gift the $ to my children because they are part of our future. My students’ stories over the years have helped me keep my kids humble & grateful. They are the biggest supporters of all my impact projects & I know they will continue my work!
