Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every student deserves quality education and the chance to learn. I am passionate about helping children recognize their worth, talents, and abilities. In my classroom, I create a nurturing environment where students feel valued and encouraged to express themselves without fear of judgment. Teaching is about fostering inquiry and critical thinking, inspiring students to ask "why”.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In my first year of teaching in Texas, I met an exceptional 6th grader who stood an impressive 6’2”. Despite his height, he struggled to see his own potential. I recognized his talents and worked with him over the next three years, providing support and encouragement. Through our conversations and experiences together, I emphasized his importance and capabilities. Today, I am proud to say that he is now a recording executive. Witnessing his growth and transformation has been so inspiring.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I’d start by looking out for my future self and tucking a good portion away for retirement. Once that’s secure, I’d treat my family & friends to a proper celebration, maybe a weekend getaway or a big dinner to share the joy. The rest would go straight to my students. I’d finally buy those high-quality supplies, cozy seating, and books they deserve. It feels amazing to know I could take care of my family, my future, and my classroom all at once.
