Victor Wyatt

I love teaching ELA because words spark imagination, empower voices, and help students discover their stories and the world.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I started teaching because I needed a change in my priorities for my family. Being a new husband, and now a new father, I wanted to make sure that I was as present as I much as I could be for my family. Being a teacher, not only allows me to do that, but it allows me to continue to do the work of inspiring children between the ages of 12 and 16.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In my first year of teaching, I’m amazed at how I’m able to unlock and open the imagination of my students. Recently in our city, we experienced one of the worst tragedies publicly that we’ve ever seen –a mass shooting. With this situation, we began reading a new book which allowed my students to connect with the situation and understand the world overall.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, I would donate to my church and I would do some things for my family.
