Learn MoreMy college advisor's suggestion to take music education courses proved to be a pivotal moment, as it led to a career spanning 40+ years. I developed a deep appreciation for music education and continue to take courses, embodying the spirit of a lifelong learner. Music is a distinctive field that, with patience and dedication, enables students to step into the spotlight, including performance, technical skills, and audience engagement. it is a profoundly fulfilling experience.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching moment was in a kindergarten/multiple handicapped classroom. I had a student who was non-verbal, confined to a wheelchair with limited mobility. When she entered the class she always elicited a radiant smile. She was a part of this class for several years and enjoyed Puff the Magic Dragon. In a remarkable moment, she unexpectedly sang the chorus, leaving all of us astonished and the room filled with tears of joy. This is a testament to the transformative power of music.
What would you do with the $25,000?Upon receiving $25,000, I would be delighted to donate it to two distinct nonprofit organizations, specifically a community arts center and my nonprofit school, to support the development of our music and drama department.
