I grew up around educators and my parents taught me the value of an education. I knew an education was one of the few things no one could take away from me. My grandmother used to say, "They got it, now go out and get yours "

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I remember the time a student told me that I had "set their world right" by providing them with a hot breakfast and some downtime before classes started. I realized how impactful actions can be that we take for granted. Teachers can make a difference- have positive impact.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to reinvest in my students and classroom to expand their science experience with a memorable field trip. There are so many opportunities to enrich the background knowledge of our diverse population of students. As a life long learner, I would also like to visit the Galapagoes Islands!
