Tell us why you became a teacher

As a former student-athlete at the University of Washington, I learned the power of discipline, mentorship, and having someone who truly believes in you. I wanted to be that person for children. Teaching allows me to combine leadership, compassion, and purpose in a way that feels meaningful every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student who relied heavily on nonverbal communication at the beginning of the year. Over time, through patience, relationship-building, and intentional support, I watched their confidence grow. One day during circle time, they independently shared their idea with the class. It wasn’t just about the words it was the smile, the pride, and the way their classmates listened.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would give back to my family, who sacrificed, supported, and poured into me long before I stepped into a classroom. Their foundation is the reason I lead with compassion, resilience, and purpose, and this award would be an opportunity to honor them in a meaningful way.
