Teaching as ALWAYS been my calling. I knew that I wanted to change the lives of students - they’re my why and reason for coming to school

I love teaching because it is incredibly rewarding to watch students grow in confidence, skills, and personality throughout the year. I also learn so much from them, as they bring unique perspectives and energy to the classroom. I knew I wanted to be a teacher at 13, inspired by my 8th grade Social Studies teacher, who showed me what it means to truly care for students. I strive to make that same impact by ensuring my students feel valued, supported, and appreciated for who they are.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was building a strong bond with a student who had been removed from his home and was living with his uncle and brothers. Without a mother figure, he began to rely on me for support and encouragement. Though he struggled academically, he worked hard and met me every Wednesday to catch up and study. Watching him walk across the stage at 8th grade graduation—and now preparing to graduate high school—remains one of my proudest moments as a teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to refurnish my classroom and provide additional supplies that directly support student learning and engagement. I would also invest in opportunities that give back to my school community so we can better support our students’ success. In addition, I would use a portion to help prepare and support my own children as they continue their educational journeys.
