Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to pass on the support, passion, and knowledge that I was fortunate enough to receive from outstanding teachers and dedicated coaches. I have a passion for guiding and supporting young learners to be ready to confront the challenges of adult life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have two. The first is in the classroom with my AP Spanish literature class, and watching as they are exposed to the depth and complexity of the human soul ans expressed through literature. As a coach, it would be watching one of my wrestlers grow from an eighth grader who didn’t win a single match, to become a two time state finalist and the most decorated wrestler in our schools history.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to support my family and to add resources to improve their well-being. My wife and I have 4 children. So the 25,000 would be a great gift to help support all of the challenges of parenthood. I would also host a celebratory party for my classes because my students play such a huge role in my happiness and one of them or a parent anonymously nominated me.
