Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to provide students with the tangible and intangible skills I learned to become a global citizen and affect change. I present representation as a Black, queer, nonbinary male appearing person, something that I definitely did not have as a student growing up.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

After fifteen years, it's hard to boil down the most memorable teaching experience. This year, my classes participated in Socratic Seminars. The students were very worried that they would not do well. They did better than expected. They trusted each other in the process and demonstrated their learning very effectively.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have student loans and general debt I want to pay down. I want to rebuild my savings. I want to buy some curricula and supplies I've always wanted for my classroom.
