Tsehay Jackson

I can’t believe I get paid to do this! I just took a new job as a 7th grade ELA teacher. I am more obnoxious than these kids could ever be!

Tell us why you became a teacher

Teaching is my third and longest career. I came to teaching after working in broadcast communications and social work. I love the English language and its nuances and the transition was natural for me during that point in my life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I enjoyed performing in my district’s “50th Anniversary” production of “The Wiz”. It was amazing to share the stage with both colleagues and students, and to share the experience on the very stage I performed on as a student was a fantastic feeling.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my children and their friends on a magical “field trip”. I have always been a fan of the fictional ‘Ms. Frizzle’——and I would take my kids and their friends and do it up Frizzle style!
