Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I am passionate about building future leaders. Today’s youth are the foundation of our future, and it is our responsibility to guide them with the right knowledge, values, and skills. By teaching them the right way, we help prepare them to succeed and make a positive impact in the world we live in.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience occurred when I was introducing a new skill, and I witnessed my students who initially struggled suddenly experience that “light bulb” moment. It happened as I gradually released the objective and standards to them, carefully unpacking each one step by step. Seeing their understanding click into place and their confidence grow affirmed the power of intentional, scaffolded instruction.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I plan to organize several community events throughout the year at both my school and my church. I’m beginning preparations early for next year’s Back-to-School initiative to ensure that families in our community have access to essential items such as school supplies, clothing, and shoes. In addition, I’m committed to supporting our graduating seniors by offering small scholarships to help them begin their college journeys. My goal is to give back, uplift, and empower the community.
