Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because representation matters, and I know what it feels like to have adults in your life that believe in you, that want to see you do great things in life, and that prepare you for opportunities that you couldn’t even dream were possible. I became a teacher because every child deserves a person like that in their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My moment is a collection of moments when students who have graduated come back to visit and can identify words of advice that I’ve given them or life lessons that go beyond school that have benefitted their lives. Those students are always willing to share those memories with current students.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest it in more resources for my consultancy which teaches youths workforce development skills and social emotional life skills via fun and engaging programming at no cost to them.
