Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always wanted to be a teacher for as far back as I can remember. This desire grew from the teachers I had as a child who made school feel like a place where I belonged. They created classrooms filled with encouragement, patience, and care, and they showed me how powerful a teacher’s influence can be in a child’s life. Their example inspired me to want to create that same experience for others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience centers on the power of inclusion. I strongly believe that all students belong in all classrooms. When children of all abilities learn together, the classroom becomes a place where everyone feels valued and respected. What makes inclusion so powerful is that these relationships grow naturally and authentically. Students learn empathy, patience, and acceptance simply by learning alongside one another.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The possibilities with $25,000 are endless, and I would make sure that a student voice guides how it is used. Giving students a role in the decision-making process allows them to take ownership, learn responsibility, and see the real impact of their choices. Together, we could explore ideas that benefit the classroom, school, or community.This approach models leadership, and civic responsibility, showing students that their ideas matter and that they can make a difference when given the chance.
