Tell us why you became a teacher

It may sound cliché, but I became a teacher to try and make a difference. The middle school age is such a tough age because you’re learning how to no longer be a child but progressing towards the teenage years and having someone there to try and help guide you along the way is my main goal. I want students to understand that it’s OK to be different and we all learn different ways. Also students need to know they can be themselves and still be successful no matter what route they take to achieve

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This is gonna sound crazy, but my most memorable teaching experience came from the cafeteria. A lot of times the children would complain that they didn’t have enough food so I would begin to hold onto like the fruit, the apples, oranges and bananas and I would eat one orange a day then I noticed as time went on each of my students would bring a orange to eat, and if they didn’t have a orange, they wouldn’t want my orange not noticing the little small things that helped them change their appetit.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With a $25,000 I would go back to school to gain further education in administration to become a assistant principal, a principal instructional coach or whatever position that I feel would be beneficial to the student body to help them grow
