I've been teaching for 26 years. There's no feeling like seeing a child learn to read and become curious about the world around them.❤️

I knew from a young age I wanted to be a teacher. I've always loved working with children, from babysitting as a teenager to nannying during college. Learning child development and spending my time student teaching only confirmed this was the right path for me. After earning my certifications in elementary education, early childhood, and moderate special needs, I began my career teaching preschool students with special needs. Today I teach first grade, and it’s incredibly rewarding!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI recently completed my certification in Orton-Gillingham so I can better support students with dyslexia as they learn to read. One of my most memorable teaching moments was during my practicum, when I saw the approach truly click for a struggling student. Watching him gain confidence and begin to read was incredibly meaningful. Knowing that this skill will stay with him for the rest of his life is something I will always carry with me, and he will always hold a special place in my heart.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would put the $25,000 toward my retirement. I didn't sign up for retirement plus so I need to buy back my years in order to retire in the future!
