The best part of teaching is seeing the moment confusion turns into confidence and a student realizes, “Wait… I CAN do this!”

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to bring creativity, energy, and authenticity into the classroom. I enjoy the fun parts of teaching—like dress-up days and thinking outside the box—but what matters most is my students. I teach Title I students, and while I can’t control their home lives, I can create a classroom where they feel safe, seen, heard, and confident—especially those who may feel a little different.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was watching a student who struggled with confidence finally believe in themselves. I teach Title I students, and many carry challenges from home. After encouragement and support in class, this student began raising their hand, sharing ideas, and taking pride in their work. It reminded me that sometimes the greatest impact we make as teachers is helping students feel confident, safe, and valued.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I’m being honest, I’d finally take a vacation. As a teacher and a mom, my brain never really shuts off I’m always thinking about lesson plans, my students, or what someone needs next. A chance to recharge would allow me to come back refreshed, creative, and ready to keep giving my students the energy and attention they deserve
