Tell us why you became a teacher

I didn’t decide I wanted to teach until I was already in college. I was working at a daycare in a 3/4s room and I fell in love with the kids that nobody felt like dealing with. Since then, I have gone on to teach 3-5 year olds for the last 11 years and I work with special education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I’ve had so many memorable moments, but the most memorable was the first time one of my special education kids started following the classroom routine and trying to sing our songs we always sing together. His growth has been one of the most impressive I’ve seen.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it to add new toys and experiences to my classroom. I would also love to use it to add a spinning playground toy to our playground as well for the sensory input.
