Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I genuinely love working with kids and being part of those lightbulb moments when something finally clicks. There’s just something really special about helping students grow, not just academically, but as little humans too. Every day is different, and I love that.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was with an upper elementary student who came to me not being able to read. He was embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly just tried to avoid it altogether. We worked all year slowly, patiently, celebrating every small win. By the end of the year, he was reading simple sentences on his own, and the pride on his face was everything. I’ll never forget him looking up at me after finishing a page and saying, “I did it.” That moment will stick with me forever!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, I’d put a big chunk back into my classroom, flexible seating, hands-on science materials, books, and fun learning experiences for my students. I’d also save some for my family because they’re my biggest supporters. It would be such a blessing all around!
