I love teaching 6th grade math because numbers click, confidence grows, and learning finally feels possible.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because my mom was a teacher when I was in grade school and I wanted to do what she did! As I got older I chose math because I like numbers and solving equations more than writing papers. I also chose to teach because I love sports and wanted to become a high school/middle school coach! I’ve been able to coach soccer, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, and field hockey. It’s been amazing!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI’ve had many memorable teaching moments where students said things like “Oh my gosh that’s all I have to do? Now I get it!” And those were amazing moments. But my most memorable is from coaching, where a student texted me a few years after graduating and said “ Happy national coaches day. You deserve to be celebrated. You’re the best/favorite coach I ever had. Don’t forget how awesome you are.” That was a moment I’ll always remember.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest the money in student learning with supplies, hands on materials, storage and supplies for the classroom. Guest speakers, field trips, and more professional development from our consultant. I’d spread some of it with my teammates as well.
