I love teaching because it turns “I can’t” into discovery, confidence, and possibility for students who doubt themselves.

For as long as I can remember, serving others has brought me joy. I became a teacher to change trajectories, not just teach content. I remember my mother not being able to help me in third grade, and I promised myself I would become the support I once needed. I teach to ensure children who look like me have access to guidance, belief, and opportunity.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was working with a student who struggled to read and had been diagnosed as mute. After months of one-on-one support, patience, and trust-building, she began speaking with me. Soon after, she started identifying words, and by the end of the year, she was reading books independently. Sometimes connections and consistency is what moves students academically.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in hands on STEM resources, mentorship programming, and leadership development opportunities for my students. Funds would support project-based learning materials, transportation for college and career exposure trips, and wellness supports that remove barriers to learning. This investment would directly expand access, increase engagement, and create measurable academic and confidence gains.
