Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the person for children that I never had—someone who was truly there for them when they needed support in learning. Teaching wasn't my first career choice, but I believe God opened that door for me, calling me to work with his children and showing me that I was meant for this purpose. My passion lies in creating a fun, engaging classroom where students feel safe to think outside the box and discover their own potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences as a teacher came when I received an Abilene Teacher Tribute Award from a student who had been struggling with reading. It was completely unexpected—I hadn't done anything extraordinary, just shown up for this student and believed in their potential. When they presented me with that award, it hit me how much our consistent support and encouragement can mean to a child. In that moment, I realized that all the hard work, patience, and dedication was worth it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won 25,000 as a teacher, I would use it to bring both relief and joy into my life. First, I would pay off my car to eliminate stress and free up my monthly budget, Next, I would set aside a portion for savings. I would also allow myself a small treat for I have always put my kids needs first because that's what moms do. I work hard and I deserve to enjoy the rewards of my dedication.
