Tell us why you became a teacher

To follow in my mother‘s footsteps and try to make a positive difference in the children’s lives that I am placed in. Seeing a child learn something new that can carry them forward in the future is such a blessing.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable moment in my teaching career was the year that I was able to teach a self-contained class. I taught all subjects to try and help students obtain mastery or higher on our state test. They blew it out of the water. We planted 4 o’clock seeds for Mother’s Day. They took these home and I recently had a parent tell me that those flowers are still blooming today, 15 years later, there are many stories I could tell, but this one just sticks out.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I honestly don’t know. I think I would take my husband, children, and grandchildren on a nice family vacation. I could also use it to pay off some bills and buy cool new stuff for my classroom in the fall!
