Learn MoreHonestly, teaching was never on my radar as a youth. Once I began college, I felt it was a calling. I didn’t begin college immediately after high school and was already a mother when I took my first college course. I just felt the pull instantly to pursue education.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI was teaching eighth grade literature. The book was The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare. I had numerous students who struggled with reading. As I was reading the trial chapters aloud, I noticed several young boys really lock in. The moment the intensity eased a young man looked up at me and said, “I saw the whole thing!” I knew in that moment a reader had been born.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would like to donate part of the money to our school to create a middle school and high school library. We currently do not have one.
