I became a teacher to impact students who see themselves in me. Many come from communities where opportunities feel limited, but I believe education is the bridge to possibility. My goal is to help students believe in their potential, strengthen their voice, and realize that their future can be bigger than their circumstances.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was taking 13 students to Europe—most of whom had never traveled outside the U.S. In 10 days we visited three countries and brought history to life. These Black and Brown students saw new cultures, new possibilities, and realized the world was bigger than their circumstances. Watching their confidence grow was unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would expand my classroom literacy resources and launch a neighborhood afterschool and summer learning program. Many children in my community lack access to tutoring and enrichment. This funding would help provide culturally awarebooks, academic support, and meaningful learning experiences that inspire students to believe in their potential.
