Tell us why you became a teacher

The reason why I became a Youth Development Coach was because I was seeing a trend of young high school students not working. I would see them hanging out after school or in the park doing absolutely nothing. I wanted to make a difference in students lives by teaching them different parts of how to seek employment, build a resume, prepare for interviews and the attributions once they land the job.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience would be when a student with special needs was having trouble logging in to her laptop. She did know what keys to press or how to go about logging on. As a Coach I explained to the student that in order to log in you must provide a password. The first week it was stressful and frustrating for the student to log in but with patient perservence the student finally grasp the concept of how to type the password to gain access into the system .

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win $25, 000 I would continue helping students with or without special needs to develop the skills necessary to obtain employment, I would provide those who come from low income families with interview outfits, transportation to and from the job and/ or assist them in finding vocational training. I would set up a resource center where young adults could come in for guidance to gaining employment and other resources.
