Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. As an Educational Paraprofessional, I’ve seen how one caring adult can make a difference in a child’s confidence, behavior, and future. I chose this path because I want to be that consistent, supportive presence—especially for students who may not always have it outside of school. Teaching allows me to combine patience, empathy, and structure to help students grow academically and emotionally.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was helping a toddler who struggled with separation anxiety. Each morning was filled with tears and fear. Through patience, consistency, and building trust, I created a safe routine just for him. Weeks later, he walked in, hugged his parent, and reached for my hand instead of crying. That small moment showed growth, confidence, and the power of connection in early childhood.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would use it to create a better life for my son and I. I would cover my mom’s expenses to ease her burden and ensure she’s supported. The rest would go toward stable housing, savings, and opportunities that give my son security and a strong foundation. My priority would be providing peace, stability, and a brighter future for my family.
