Sylvia Albarsdo

I love teaching because I am growing little minds to learn to read and I am helping bilingual and ES children to learn a second language. ❤️

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of neighbors who were teachers. They would invite me over and teach me how to create new projects and we would have critical thinking conversations together all the time. They would also share their experiences about their students with me and they inspired me to want to become a teacher. I decided I wanted to be a ESL/Bilingual teacher so that I could help students acquire a English language so that they could become successful in life in a new country.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has be when we have our Seniors come back to the our elementary school and I see former students who spoke NO English in Elementary and now are graduating with honors wearing their graduation cap and gown. That is one of my teaching experiences.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 I would organize a field trip for my Emergent Bilingual and ESL students. I would take a trip and I would save the rest for retirement.
