Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want to help children grow, feel confident, and know they are loved and capable of anything. I want to create a classroom where they feel safe to try, make mistakes, and learn from them. I want my students to believe in themselves even when something feels hard. Teaching allows me to encourage, guide, and celebrate every small victory along the way. My goal is not only to teach core subjects, but to help shape kind and confident human beings who know they matter.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments so far as an educator actually happened during my full-year student teaching placement when my cooperating teacher suddenly lost her son. I stepped into a larger role, maintaining routines and providing stability for the students. That experience grew me deeply. I learned resilience, compassion, and the importance of being a steady presence. It shaped me as both a teacher and a person and prepared me to confidently lead my own classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would use it to pay down my student loans and ease the financial transition into my teaching career. I would also invest in my classroom to create a warm, welcoming space for my students. The rest would help us as we prepare to buy a home and begin our life together, especially as I get married this year. Starting my career, planning a wedding, and building a future at the same time has been exciting but challenging.
