Tell us why you became a teacher

For me, becoming a teacher is about instilling the excitement of lifelong learning in others. My teachers were my biggest cheerleaders and mentors. School was a safe space for me where I was able to try new things and grow as a human and community member. Becoming a teacher has allowed me to pass on those gifts to other generations. You can be whatever you dream you can be, especially with a teacher cheering you on.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I fundraised over $6,000 dollars to get a group of low income students to attend a field trip at the Baltimore Aquarium. Most students could not afford to go to the field trip and I was able to fundraise the entire 5th Grade’s admission, private buses and even snacks for them to experience a field trip.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to get my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership so that I could influence education policy and make education better for both students and teachers.
