Teaching truly comes from the heart for me. Seeing things click with a child and experiencing their aha moments truly reminds me why I teach

IT was my 6th grade teacher Mrs. Matthew's who showed me the true love of teaching and sparked my interest to become a teacher. I have always had a love for children and to be a small part of their education means a lot. I try to instill values, love and academics all at the same time. I want children to know they matter.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student whose mother was worried about her being behind. Being a preschool teacher I know that each child's "lightbulb" turns on at different times. I told this mother to not worry that it would be like her daughter would wake up one morning and begin recognizing letters, numbers, shapes and count. I received an email that summer saying she was in tears because that is exactly what happened. People are quick to try and label and I don't ever want to be that type of teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use some for personal use to go on a trip with my family, but honestly I would use some to upgrade my classroom with maybe some new flooring and furniture. I work in a school that has been around for over 60 years and my room could use some updating.
