Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives. Education opens doors, builds confidence, and shapes futures, and I wanted to be part of that journey. I am passionate about helping students grow, discover their strengths, and overcome challenges. Seeing their progress and knowing I played a role in their success is incredibly rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Coaching in the Special Olympics has been my most memorable teaching experience because it goes far beyond sports. I’ve watched athletes build confidence, develop skills, and believe in themselves in ways that truly inspire me. Their determination, joy, and growth remind me why I teach—to make a difference, celebrate every success, and create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and capable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000 from America’s Favorite Teacher, I would invest it directly into my school and the ESE department. I would upgrade learning materials, incorporate more hands-on and technology-based resources, and create a more engaging environment for my ESE learners. I would also set aside funds to support students in need, ensuring everyone has access to supplies and opportunities. Additionally, I would pursue professional development to grow as an educator to better serve my students.
