My band director in high school had an amazing gift to motivate students facing the same difficulty in ways that worked for each student, not cookie cutter to the difficulty. In addition to an incredible sounding band, he taught an incredible-running band. I wanted to teach so that I could work those same little miracles.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student in drum corps who was a genuinely incredible performer from the Manhattan School of Music. Musicality, technique, comprehension of musical topics and theory; all of it. Started experiencing pain during the first long training week (as opposed to just a weekend). Was able to break down the kinesthetics of his playing motions and narrow it down to how the tip of his ring finger was angled and it fixed everything. I want to be able to be -that- detailed to fix any students' issue.
What would you do with the $25,000?Fix the things that need fixing around the house and clear medical debt.
