Tell us why you became a teacher

I aspire to inspire. And I became a teacher to do just that. I want to inspire my students to pursue whatever it is that they love and have a natural aptitude for.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I once had a student who had the audacity to tell me that he cheated on a quiz. So I threw out his and the rest of the classes quizzes. I told them they would take it again the next day new quiz, new format. Then I hand drew the next quiz over meiosis. Same student grabbed a laptop and said “Miss I can’t find it on the Internet. Why can’t I find it on the Internet?” I told him I'd hand-drawn the new quiz and it would not be on the internet because it was a new assessment. Mic-drop.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Well, I’d pay off debt first. Once that is done, I’d create a safe place for arts and crafts- free of charge for all young people and the elderly, students, etc…- hopefully supported long term by patronage in the arts/community support and donations. I’m an educator and I love teaching. Later, I’d like to be able to hire a couple of my teacher friends to create a collaborative community of educators that oversee and educate at the arts center with me.
