Tell us why you became a teacher

I was inspired by the great coaches in my life: Mr. Lorne Howlett and Mr. Vondre Armour. They are both educators and father figures to me, playing a vital role in my development and career path. I fell in love with students with disabilities when I TA’d in a class in high school. Through volunteer experience, my passion and career path was solidified.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My first year of teaching was tough. I was thrown in the deep in with not very much help, however, I had a lot of personal growth in that year. I’ve made impacts, created strong routines, and my students gained trust in me. Everything about that first year was memorable and a massive learning experience for me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Most of my leftover money goes back into the classroom. Besides basic necessities I need my class, I would also like to treat my students with a field trip and matching shirts. My students also go through a lot of sensory items. These students deserve everything.
