I love teaching because I love seeing my students make connections. It is so rewarding to see your students put the pieces together.

I was inspired to become a teacher due to a personal experience with one of my siblings. When she was five years old, she became seriously ill and nearly lost her life. Through months of rehabilitation and specialized intervention, I witnessed the profound impact of targeted support. This experience motivated me to pursue a degree in special education and to dedicate my career to teaching students with disabilities.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when a non-verbal student who used a communication device began verbally expressing his peers' names. This moment served as a powerful reminder that all children no matter their disability, can learn when given the opportunity.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were fortunate enough to win $25,000, I would use it to create additional accommodations for my disabled son and make some home improvements. A mother of twins—one of whom has Cerebral Palsy—I want our home to be equally accessible for all.
