Stacy McFarland

Growing tiny brains is my calling. For 30 years my heart tugged toward teaching tiny humans. At age 50 I graduated and answered that call.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I always knew learning something new every day was my passion. Science, math, history, even English changes constantly. At 50 years old I finally realized my dream, to learn and teach our little people, so I graduated college and jumped in head first. The STEAM lab is my greatest love. Teach every subject I can to K-5th grade sponges and make learning F.U.N.!!!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experiences are when I use a microscope with kindergartners who have no idea what they do. We examine bones, bugs, hair, and dirt under their own fingernails. The lightbulb comes on and they connect germs with dirty hands and usually use all my hand sanitizer. I always have extra bottles on hand (pardon the pun🤣🤣) When I asked for what they want to be when they graduate college their answers change from play video games to “I want to look in a “microphone” (microscope),

What would you do with the $25,000?

Buy enough robotic building kits for a class set so they don’t have to share. And buy a VR 3D kit to examine and explore all the body systems from all sides.
