Tell us why you became a teacher

Initially it was because I needed a different schedule for my kids, and I wanted to get into corporate training and needed experience. I stayed because I enjoy working with the kids and each day brings new learning and new challenges. Working in inner city schools is worthwhile and meaningful.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In the state of Florida our students must score a level 3 or higher to be considered proficient. I had a student that had struggled on grades 3 and 4 never making that 3. But after much hard work, he finally did it. I told him and whispered and questioned "I made a 3" Yes I said, he was over the moon, and I felt good too

What would you do with the $25,000?

Of course I would deck out my classroom with new furniture and tools needed to teach science, I would also work on the teacher's lounge and out the rest towards the needs of the school overall.
