Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a para to service the more challenging and fragile children in the schools. I believe as a para, I get to develop a closer role with my students. This helps with encouraging all aspects of the learning experience. The relationships and bonds I have formed with my students have touched my heart and will stay with my for the rest of my life.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Every time a student calls me mom. The other was when I was at graduation for a small inclusion school. One graduating student said in his graduation speech that he would not have been graduating if it wasn’t for my continued kindness and encouragement. This was not even a student I personally worked with. That will be with me for the rest of my life.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Definitely would treat all the staff to a fantastic luncheon. I would provide the nurses closet at school with extra clothing and snacks . I would see if my son who is a teacher needs anything for his classroom. I would give some to my favorite charities. And Hopefully treat myself to a little something too (maybe a massage or new gym shoes for work)
